There’s not a day in the UK navy where marines are left idle. With all the training and education the Royal Navy requires, the United Kingdom has one of the strongest, most powerful armed forces worldwide. In order to train the world’s best, every armed forces needs to have their headquarters and a commander.
The UK navy is comprised of three headquarters: The Navy Command Headquarters Portsmouth, Northwood Command Centre and Support Staff in Portsmouth Naval Base. These headquarters’ missions are summed up into three main roles. First is Force Generation. The UK navy’s headquarters needs to create a Fleet that is fully prepared for missions. These troops must cover the appropriate manpower, equipment, training and sustainability.
The second role is making future plans. Lending services like the UK navy does requires meticulous planning. The three headquarters ensure that a fleet must be able to face challenges and accomplish missions successfully. Last role, the navy’s headquarters must provide its troops advice, assurance and capability. With a strong command force, a strong team will be made. Other than that, the Royal Navy must be true to their deeds as they record everything that is decided, implemented and spent.
These three major roles are performed by the UK navy’s set of officers. The highest in rank who does all the commands is the Commander-in-Chief Fleet. Being the most respected, the position also entails liability on how his Fleet performs. On the other hand, the one who secures the right personnel on the given tasks is the Second Sea Lord. Both of these highest ranking officers are a tag team as one commands and the other delegates people to do what has been commanded.
When it comes to planning naval force strategies, the Fleet Battle Staff is considered the most advanced military planning departments in the country. This staff orders the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines to operate on different areas. These tasks would include: deep sea warfare, amphibious warfare, humanitarian aid and non-combatant evacuation operations. On matters such as, planning is the key to every mission made by the UK naval force. Without a plan, there is nothing to command.
Accurate strategic planning couldn’t be done by one man alone. The Fleet Battle Staff has its own set of commanders and associates that strategize operational plans. In times of conflict, the staff comes together and orders their Fleet through high technology communication devices. In every Naval Forces’ headquarters, if the head marines aren’t conducting a training, what they usually do is plan.
